5-week seriesMoving with Confidence: Chair-Supported Yoga for Balance and Healthy Aging
Date: 5 Wednesdays, October 7th - November 4th
Time: 10:00 - 11:00 AM
Cost: $89
Location: Community Room, Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church, Boothbay Harbor, Maine
This weekly class combines joint-friendly, chair-supported yoga and straightforward strength and balance exercises to help you build confidence, stay steady, and keep doing what matters most.
Classes include both seated and standing movement, with the chair available throughout for support. You'll receive clear guidance and options to help you work at a comfortable pace. Everyone comes with different abilities, experiences, and health concerns, and it's always appropriate to modify a practice, take a break, or choose a different option. Breathing exercises, simple guided meditation, and relaxation are included to support energy, mental clarity, and overall well-being.

Questions about Chair Supported Yoga?
-
Not at all. Beginners are welcome. Many of my students have never taken a yoga class before.
-
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. No gear needed, though you might like a water bottle. You're welcome to practice barefoot or in supportive footwear, but stocking feet are too slippery.
-
There is no floor work in this class. It does include a (shorter) standing practice in addition to chair work. While standing, we’ll often hold the back of the chair (or sometimes a counter or wall), and I give options so participants can work at a level that feels right for them.
-
That's completely normal. We all come to yoga with different body histories and days when symptoms flare up.
I'll help you find a skillful approach for a given day. Sometimes that means doing less, sometimes more, and sometimes something different altogether. The goal is to find a practice that works for you.

Many people in my classes have health concerns, aches and pains, injuries, or changes that come with aging. As a yoga therapist, I’m used to adapting movement to the individual. If you have a new or acute injury, recent surgery, a significant change in your health, or questions about whether the class is right for you, please contact me before registering.

I offer one-on-one yoga therapy for those who would like sessions tailored more specifically to their goals, health concerns, and circumstances.
